| 1st Marine Division Association
Veterans who campaigned under the battle colors of the 1st Marine Division , are justifiably proud of their Division's accomplishments in WWII, North China, Korea, Vietnam, Kuwait, Somalia, Afghanistan, during the Cold War and peacekeeping. The "esprit de corps" of their service remained when their active duty with the Division came to an end. It was this same spirit of belonging, of sharing and giving of ones self which mandated the formation of the 1st Marine Division Association. Since its beginning, the Association continued to grow steadily until the membership exceeded 14,000, and it became the largest of its kind in the United States. It is supported by both officers and enlisted men, proud of their service and association with the 1st Marine Division, desirous of continuing their contacts with their comrades and determined to perpetuate the spirit and traditions of the United States Marine Corps. The Association incorporated in 1947 as a non-profit, now designated an IRS 501(C)(19) organization, is open to those who served in the 1st Marine Division at any time since it's formation in 1941. This applies equally to those who served with attached or supporting units, such as corpsmen, aviation units, Seabees, ships and other regiments and battalions and other uniformed services.
