Following is a summary of some of the many events, projects, causes, and initiatives that the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Kentucky (MCCCK) and/or its individual members have administratively, logistically, and financially supported since its inception in 1991, as the Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Louisville:
January 2012 - Facilitated and supplemented the acquisition of Marine Corps uniform items for elderly World War II veteran wishing to be buried at the time of his passing, in his vintage service uniform, with appropriate military honors.
January 2012 - Provided financial support to the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC) Jeffersontown High School toward the on-site construction of a physical conditioning obstacle course at Jeffersontown High School, to be utilized by MCJROTC students from multiple local high schools, as well as Jefersontown High School athletic teams.
December 2011 - Provided financial support to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund through a $5,000 grant made possible by the generosity of Sustaining Members and friends of the Corps in Kentucky.
December 2011 - Continued funding of a college or university "Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Kentucky Scholarship," to be awarded annually to a worthy son or daughter of a Kentucky Marine, under the auspices of the Marine Corps Scholarship Foundation (MCSF), which has been "honoring Marines by educating their children" since its inception in 1962. The Marine Corps Coordinating Council of Kentucky is proud to partner with the MCSF for the second consecutive year (2011-2012) (2012-2013) in this truly important extension of its motto "Marines Serving Marines."
December 2011 - Initiation and coordination of state-wide Marine Corps family effort to provide substantial financial assistance to family of Marine Corps veteran and officer of Louisville Metro Police Department, whose tragic and unforeseen death through natural causes, left a stay-at-home widow and four (4) young children fatherless, without a pension and adequate health insurance.
November 2011 - Funding support and cooperative partial sponsorship of annual Marine Corps Birthday Breakfast at Lexington, Kentucky, attended by 112 active duty, reserve and veteran Marines from throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky, who honored Major Lauren S. Edwards, USMC, a native Kentuckian, and all Women Marines, for their service to Corps and country.
November 2011 - Financial and operational support of "Tun Tavern Kentucky," a traditional time-honored celebration at Louisville, Kentucky, during which active duty, retired, and veteran Marines joined together to commemorate the 236th anniversary of the Marine Corps, complete with birthday cake and Marine piper.
October 2011 - Funding support of Marine Corps Birthday Balls hosted by Marine Corps Recruiting Station Louisville held at Louisville; Reserve Military Police "Alpha" Company, held at Lexington; and Reserve Tank "Echo" Company, held at Fort Knox.
September 2011 - Funding support of Marine Corps Recruiting Station Louisville institution of formal internal award recognizing outstanding performance of recruiting duties.
August 2011 - Provided logistical and participatory support of the 3rd Marine Division Association 57th Annual Family Reunion held at Louisville, Kentucky, attended by General Joseph F. Dunford, Jr., Assistant Commandant of the Marine Corps.
July 2011 - Encouraged and facilitated the inclusion of a local Marine Corps veteran's personal documented account of the World War II amphibious invasions of Guadalcanal, Marshall Islands, Tinian, Saipan and Iwo Jima, in the archives of the Marine Corps History Division, Alfred Gray Marine Corps Research Center, Quantico, Virginia.
July 2011 - Funding support of Women Marines Association (WMA) Winning Colors Chapter (KY-1) efforts to ship 50 cases of donated Girl Scout cookies to Marines deployed in Global War on Terror within Afghanistan.
June 2011 - Facilitated the transfer of a fragile historic Fleet Marine Force (FMF) flag (circa 1939) obtained from the family of a deceased Marine Corps veteran at Louisville, Kentucky and donated to the National Museum of the Marine Corps at Quantico, Virginia.
June 2011 - Cooperative matching grant to Marine Corps League, William B. Baugh MOH Detachment #1052, Danville, Kentucky, for funding of dinner hosting Marine Corps Band Brass Choir ("President's Own") and Silent Drill Platoon, Washington, DC, during participation in Great American Brass Band Festival at Danville, Kentucky.
June 2011 - Funding support of travel expenses associated with Fern Creek Traditional High School Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC) participation in basic and advance marksmanship training at Camp Perry (National Rifle Association Range), Ohio.
May 2011 - Funding support of Louisville Armed Forces Committee (LAFC) Annual Armed Forces Day Dinner at Louisville, Kentucky, during which local military personnel of all our armed forces are recognized and honored for individual achievements associated with their service. Complimentary dinners are provided to active duty Marines assigned to Marine Corps Tank Detachment, Fort Knox; Marine Corps Recruiting Station Louisville; Marine Corps Inspector and Instructor Staff, Lexington; and Marine Corps Inspector and Instructor Staff, Fort Knox, Kentucky.
May 2011 - Funding support of Bluegrass Military Affairs Coalition (BMAC) Annual Armed Forces Day Dinner at Lexington, Kentucky, during which local military personnel of all our armed forces are recognized and honored for individual achievements associated with their service. Complimentary dinners are provided to local military personnel and spouses through corporate, civilian and veterans' sponsorships.
May 2011 - Funding support of academic scholarship established by Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC), Seneca High School, Louisville, Kentucky, in memory of LCpl Robert A. Lynch, USMC, Seneca High School, MCJROTC alumnus killed in action on July 24, 2007 in Iraq.
May 2011 - Receipt and transfer of individual donations totaling $1,500.00 at Louisville, Kentucky, to Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, in memory of local deceased Marine Corps veteran, at request of family.
April 2011 - Provided supplemental funding for visitation travel expenses associated with the remote hospitalization of an active duty Marine, in an effort to support the healing process by ensuring the presence of immediate family during counseling and treatment.
April 2011 - Through communication and coordination efforts, facilitated the enlistment of skilled volunteer workers from within the Marine Corps community for a Wounded Warrior Regiment initiated project to modify the Glasgow, Kentucky home of a severely wounded Marine veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
April 2011 - Funding support of Officer Selection Office, MCRSL, sponsored and hosted Colonel "Rich" Higgins Memorial Mess Night, major officer candidate recruiting effort focusing on regional colleges and universities, to include food, beverages, and awards, primarily through individual member participation and generosity of those unable to attend.
April 2011 - Facilitation and coordination of a statewide Marine Corps community response to the devastation wreaked on Tarawa Terrace II housing area at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, by a tornado on April 16, 2011, displacing 52 Marine Corps families and affecting an additional 100-200 families through the an extended electric power outage resulting in the loss of refrigerated food items. Through the generosity and compassion of its own members, as well as those of the Marine Corps League and friends of the Corps, $7,600.00 of Wal-Mart gift cards were acquired on behalf of all Kentucky Marines and made available to affected Marine Corps families at Camp Lejeune for the purchase of essential supplies, as homes and lives are rebuilt.
March 2011 - Facilitated the participation of the Company E, 4th Tank Battalion, 4th Marine Division, Fort Knox, Kentucky, color guard in the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade at Louisville, Kentucky.
March 2011 - Funding support of the Montford Point Marine Association (MPMA), Chapter #22, Louisville, Kentucky, Covington - Hagan Scholarships, awarded annually to deserving college bound African - American students, in memory of its founders John Thomas Covington (1922 - 1997) and John Warner Hagan, Jr. (1927 - 1995).
February 2011 - Partnered with Montfort Point Marine Association in providing support of a Marine Corps officer candidate in need of exigent short-term financial assistance.

November 2010 - Financial and operational support of Marine Corps Birthday Celebration at Louisville, Kentucky, hosted by the Marine Corps Recruiting Station Louisville, during which Martin G. Hanse, Sr., was honored for his exemplary support of his fellow Marines throughout Kentucky.
September 2010 - Acquisition and presentation of Marine Corps cherry wood memorabilia box to family of Marine killed in action during combat operations in Afghanistan, as expression of sympathy, support and honor from the entire Marine Corps community in Kentucky. Marine enshrined in Veterans Memorial, Bowling Green, Kentucky.
August 2010 - Provided funding for travel of family of fallen Marine to Bowling Green, Kentucky and return, to attend enshrinement ceremony and dedication of brick paver at Bowling Green Veterans Memorial honoring "last full measure" of service during Global War on Terrorism in Afghanistan.
July 2010 - Initiation and coordination of state-wide Marine Corps family effort to defray funeral expenses associated with the tragic vehicular alcohol related death of a minor child of a recruiter assigned to Marine Corps Recruiting Station Louisville, through which substantial funding was received to enable significant financial assistance and support.
June 2010 - Funding support of Honor Flight Bluegrass Chapter efforts to ensure all surviving veterans of World War II are afforded an opportunity, free of charge, to visit the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC. Funding allocated in direct support of Marine Corps veterans of World War II residing throughout Kentucky.
June 2010 - Financial sponsorship of the Patriots Peace Memorial (Louisville, Kentucky) enshrinement of a Marine Corps recruit from Kentucky, who died while on active duty during physical conditioning at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.

April 2010 - Funding support of Officer Selection Team (Covington), Marine Corps Recruiting Station Louisville (MCRSL), sponsored and hosted Northern Kentucky Mess Night/Dining-In, major officer candidate recruiting effort focusing on Northern Kentucky and Southern Ohio regional colleges and universities, to include subsidies of food and beverage. Through this annual event, officer candidates are exposed to traditions and camaraderie of the Marine Corps, as they pursue the time honored privilege of leading Marines.
April 2010 - Funding support of four (4) separate Marine Corps Recruiting Station Louisville (MCRSL) "Family Nights" held at various locations throughout Kentucky, subsidizing dinners served to Marine Corps recruits and their families, as they prepare to report for recruit training at Parris Island, South Carolina during April - September 2010. "Family Nights" present recruits and their families with a relaxed opportunity to explore any unresolved issues; meet with visiting Drill Instructors and Commanding Officer, MCRSL; and form supportive relationships with other recruits and their families about to enter the Marine Corps.

March 2010 - Funding support of Marine Corps League (MCL) Kentuckiana Detachment #729 participation in a Louisville, Kentucky, community event commemorating and celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) through the presentation of MCL "Good Citizen" certificates to 238 Eagle Scouts from the Lincoln Heritage Council. Recognition of Eagle Scouts by the MCL reinforces the outstanding recruiting relationship which exists between the Marine Corps and the BSA.
March 2010 - Acquisition and presentation of Marine Corps cherry wood memorabilia boxes to families of two (2) Marines killed in action during combat operations in Afghanistan, as expressions of sympathy, support and honor from the entire Marine Corps community in Kentucky. Marines interred with military honors in Kentucky.
January 2010 - Provided financial support to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, through donations received in lieu of birthday gifts, honoring an MCCCK member.
December 2009 - Financial support of annual Toys for Tots program in Louisville Metro Area, sponsored by Marine Corps League, Kentuckiana Detachment #729. In anticipation of additional requests for toys from parents affected by the economic recession of 2009, a significant grant was made to assist the Marine Corps League in its community-wide effort to ensure that area children have an enjoyable Christmas. This charitable endeavor has made U.S. Marines the unchallenged leaders in looking after needy children at Christmas. Through the efforts of the Marine Corps League, about 75,000 toys are purchased and/or collected from donors annually for distribution to about 19,000 needy children in the Louisville, Kentucky - Southern Indiana area during the Holiday Season.
November 2009 - Funding support and cooperative partial sponsorship of annual Marine Corps Birthday Breakfast at Lexington, Kentucky, attended by ninety-six active duty, reserve and veteran Marines from throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky, who were briefed by BGen David H. Berger, USMC, Director of Operations, Headquarters Marine Corps, Washington, DC on current Marine Corps operations in the Global War on Terror.
October 2009 - Provided significant financial support to the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, supplementing major donation of $250,000 previously generated through "Salute to the Legends of the Corps" held May 23, 2008 at Lexington, Kentucky.

May 2009 - At the request of the Navy League, Great Lakes Region, Southwest Area, facilitated the participation of a Marine Corps keynote speaker at the Valley High School (Louisville) Naval Junior Reserve Officers Training Corps (NJROTC) rededication of a memorial honoring Captain James K. Thorpe, USMC, an alumnus thereof, who was killed in action February 3, 1991, during Operation Desert Shield in Iraq.
May 2009 - Funding support of Inspector-Instructor, Company E, 4th Tank Battalion, Fort Knox, Kentucky, participation in Hardin County School Annual Youth Physical Fitness Test, involving 96 students from 8 different elementary schools, in which local Marines officiate, grade and evaluate each event and provide awards for individuals as well as schools.

Event was held in Lexington for the first time in its 39 year history commensurate with the outreach of the MCCCK to the entire statewide Marine Corps community.
April 2009 - Funding support of the Montford Point Marine Association (MPMA), Chapter #22, Louisville, Kentucky, Covington - Hagan Scholarships, awarded annually to deserving college bound African - American students, in memory of its founders John Thomas Covington (1922 - 1997) and John Warner Hagan, Jr. (1927 - 1995).
March 2009 - Provided logistical and administrative support to local "Marine for Life" and "Wounded Warrior Regiment" representatives hosting of a Marine Corps "wounded warrior" during a family related visit to Louisville, Kentucky, to include a personal guided tour of the "Louisville Slugger" manufacturing facility and family dinner at a local restaurant. Expenses associated with this hospitality were defrayed by a generous grant from the Semper Grati Fund, a local charitable foundation which supports families of fallen and severely injured military personnel, as well as individual MCCCK members. During interaction with this quadriplegic "wounded warrior," it was determined that in 2004 he may have been the very first severely wounded Marine assisted by the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund (IMSFF), on whose behalf the MCCCK raised $250,000 during its "Salute to the Legends of the Corps" (May 23, 2008). GySgt Jay Taylor and SSgt Gil Stubbs are to be commended for their caring initiative, as representatives of our Marine Corps family, in "hosting" this severely injured Marine during his brief visit to Kentucky.
March 2009 - Provided financial support to Marines and their families assigned to Marine Corps Recruiting Station Louisville, to assist them with unexpected expenses and property damage directly attributable a catastrophic ice storm January 28 - February 5, 2009, which caused widespread tree damage and power outages throughout Kentucky.
February 2009 - Through a cooperative partnership with the Semper Grati Fund, a local Louisville, Kentucky effort to honor fallen and injured military personnel by providing financial support to their families, a substantial grant was made to the Marine Corps Detachment, U.S. Army Armor Center, Fort Knox, Kentucky, to assist individual Marines and their families with financial losses and/or extra expenses incurred as a direct result of a catastrophic ice storm January 28 - February 5, 2009, which caused widespread tree damage and power outages throughout Kentucky.
January 2009 - Acquisition and presentation of Marine Corps cherry wood memorabilia box to mother of Marine killed in action during combat operations in Iraq, as an expression of sympathy, support and honor from entire Marine Corps community in Kentucky in lieu of designated memorial gift. Marine interred with military honors at London, Kentucky.
November 2008 - Funding support and cooperative partial sponsorship of annual Marine Corps Birthday Breakfast at Lexington, Kentucky, attended by ninety active duty, reserve and veteran Marines from throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky, who were briefed by MajGen James L. Williams, USMC, Commanding General, 4th Marine Division, on the critical role of reservists in the Global War on Terror.
October 2008 - Funding support of administrative and logistical costs associated with the organization, planning and conduct of an annual Toys for Tots benefit dance featuring The Monarchs, a local band of national recognition. Each year Toys for Tots, sponsored by Marine Corps League Kentuckiana Detachment #729, provides about 70,000 toys for about 19,000 needy children in the Louisville, Kentucky area during the Holiday Season.
September 2008 - Provided financial support of the "Toys for Tots" benefit golf scramble sponsored by the Marine Corps Reserve Training Center, Ft. Knox, Kentucky.
August 2008 - In concert with the Veterans Affairs Medical Center, Lexington, Kentucky, the final request of a terminally ill Marine Corps veteran of Iwo Jima, to be buried in a Marine uniform, was granted through the cooperative intervention of the Marine for Life program and Company E, 4th Tank Battalion, Marine Corps Reserve Training Center, Ft. Knox, Kentucky, as well as the financial and logistical support of the MCCCK. Following the expeditious acquisition of a suitable uniform and shipment to a cooperative funeral director, this veteran was laid to rest with full military honors, in the uniform of the service he loved.
August 2008 - Provided financial support for Wounded Warrior Regiment/Marine For Life participation in "2008 Operation Enduring Freedom/Operation Iraqi Freedom Welcome Home Event," sponsored by Louisville Veterans Affairs Medical Center, at Slugger Field, Louisville, Kentucky, honoring combat veterans and celebrating their return.
July 2008 - Provided financial assistance for basic travel expenses, enabling parents of new Marine to participate in Family Day and graduation ceremony at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, South Carolina.
May 2008 - Sponsored, planned and executed "Salute to the Legends of the Corps" at Keeneland Entertainment Center, Lexington, Kentucky, for the exclusive benefit of the Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund, contributing $250,000 on behalf of active, reserve and veteran Marines, as well as friends of the Corps from throughout Kentucky and elsewhere.
May 2008 - Funding support of academic scholarship established by Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps (MCJROTC), Seneca High School, Louisville, Kentucky, in memory of LCpl Robert A. Lynch, USMC, Seneca High School, MCJROTC alumnus killed in action on July 24, 2007 in Iraq.
April 2008 - Funding support of Marine Corps League (MCL), Kentuckiana Detachment #729, Louisville, Kentucky, efforts to purchase and install MCL sign identifying American Legion Post 201 (Highlands Post) as its official monthly meeting site.
April 2008 - Funding support of Officer Selection Office, MCRSL, sponsored and hosted Colonel "Rich" Higgins Memorial Dining-In, major officer candidate recruiting effort focusing on regional colleges and universities, to include food, beverages, and awards, primarily through individual member participation and generosity of those unable to attend.

March 2008 - Funding support of the Cpl Eric Hall Fund, established to help defray expenses of family and friends participating in an extensive search in Florida, resulting in the recovery of Cpl Hall's body from a remote wooded area. Cpl Hall was a local Marine, suffering from post traumatic stress disorder, as the result of combat and resulting serious wounds received in Iraq.
March 2008 - Funding support of the Montford Point Marine Association (MPMA), Chapter #22, Louisville, Kentucky, Covington - Hagan Scholarships, awarded annually to deserving college bound African - American students, in memory of its founders John Thomas Covington (1922 - 1997) and John Warner Hagan, Jr. (1927 - 1995).
January 2008 - Provided contact information for local Marine Corps officer selection office to United Sates Army officer deployed with 101st Airborne Division in Iraq, interested in career transition from Army to Marine Corps. Contact was initiated from Iraq through an Internet search and identification of the MCCCK web site.
December 2007 - Provided specific guidance and suggestions to discharged Marine seeking to acquire copy of official military service record.
December 2007 - Start-up seed funding support of Marine Corps League (MCL) Central Division Conference, hosted by MCL, Kentuckiana Detachment #729, Louisville, Kentucky, on April 24-27, 2008, at Executive West Hotel, Louisville, Kentucky. Participating delegates (150-200) represented 136 separate MCL detachments located throughout the Commonwealth of Kentucky, as well as Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin. All participants were either retired or former Marines, who have remained active within the Marine Corps veterans' community in their respective states.
November 2007 - Funding support of the Lexington Area Marine Corps Birthday Ball, which serves as the primary morale function for active duty and reserve Marines assigned to the Reserve Military Police Company (Inspector and Instructor Staff) at Lexington, Kentucky, as well as Marine veterans affiliated with the Marine Corps League, Lexington, Kentucky.

September 2007 - Funding support of administrative and logistical costs associated with the organization, planning and conduct of an annual Toys for Tots benefit dance featuring The Monarchs, a local band of national recognition. Each year Toys for Tots, sponsored by Marine Corps League Kentuckiana Detachment #729, provides about 70,000 toys for about 19,000 needy children in the Louisville, Kentucky area during the Holiday Season.
September 2007 - Facilitated the identification of Young Marines programs within the Commonwealth of Kentucky for the Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, Jeffersontown High School, Louisville, Kentucky, for the gratis distribution of 150 serviceable, but outdated Marine Corps camouflaged utility uniforms to former, in lieu of routine disposal through Department of Defense channels.
July 2007 - Memorial tribute (flowers) at visitation and funeral of deceased active duty Marine, graduate of Marine Corps Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps, Seneca High School, Louisville, Kentucky, following his combat related death in Diyala Province, Iraq, on behalf of his Marine Corps family in Kentucky.
July 2007 - Liaison intercession with local television news media at Louisville, Kentucky, in support of Marine Corps Inspector and Instructor Staff, Fort Knox, Kentucky, efforts to comply with request from family of deceased Marine, to produce video documentary of his airport homecoming, visitation, memorial service, and graveside funeral. Edited documentary video was privately prepared by local television news photographer, at fraction of normal professional cost, purchased by MCCCK, and provided to Marine Corps Inspector and Instructor Staff, Fort Knox, Kentucky, for presentation to family as keepsake.
May 2007 - Louisville Armed Forces Committee sponsored Annual Armed Forces Day Dinner tickets (4) provided to two (2) deserving local Marines and their spouses free of charge. Tickets purchased and donated by MCCCK member.
April 2007 - Through the initiative and facilitation of an MCCCK member, a partnership was developed between Texas Roadhouse, a Louisville, Kentucky based restaurant chain and Marine Corps Community Services, Camp Pendleton, California, resulting in the volunteer construction of twenty two (22) additional shelters, installation of three (3) sun shades over an existing cantina and stage, extension of patios for sixty six (66) existing cottages, and the installation of forty (40) additional picnic tables at Del Mar Beach, an area at Camp Pendleton used by Marine Corps personnel , as well as recovering residents of the Wounded Warrior Barracks. Special beach wheel chairs capable of withstanding salt water and sand were also acquired for use by recovering wounded Marines. Texas Roadhouse, along with its co-sponsor Coca-Cola, was also to provide materials and labor for the construction of a storage building to house items donated to residents of the Wounded Warrior Barracks. In all, the estimated cost of these goods and services was to exceed $200,000.

February 2007 - Through the individual initiative of an MCCCK member, high level corporate contacts were established with a major domestic and international freight carrier, in an effort to establish post service employment opportunities for honorably discharged Marines. Initiative was coordinated with both the "Marine for Life" program and the Marine Civilian Development Program.
December 2006 - Dissemination of information concerning the combat death in Iraq of a Kentucky Marine to elements of the Marine Corps family in the Louisville, Kentucky area, resulting in a Marine Corps League, Kentuckiana Detachment #729 honor guard being present at Louisville Invitational Airport for the ceremonial return of his body to Kentucky.
